During the VIA campaign, Starbucks had footage of customers using “special graphics printed” cups in the scene. Seeing an opportunity to reuse the footage for more campaigns, they needed the Starbucks logo printed over the special graphics version. Additionally, they needed the final video to have a “vertical” proportion for special viewing screens in out door/indoor screen advertising.

Frames from the original footage
Working in AfterEffects, I re-cropped and modified the footage to work better in the vertical format. Then, I created a new Starbucks logo from client supplied materials at the right angle and distortion to match the cup in the scene. I then matched the subtle motion shake in the camera so that the logo appears to be attached to the cup. Finally, using matte techniques in AfterEffects, I roto-scoped the logo to allow the hand to move across the top of the cup. A little subtle color and shade work, and the logo appears to be printed on the cup.

The Moxi Television Interface is based on unique concepts.
Moxi Television has it’s roots right here in the Northwest with Digeo, a Vulcan Company. The Moxi Interface is based in “Centered Focused Navigation”, a concept introduced by Dewey Reid. As part of the team that brought the User Centered Navigation Concept to life, I created elaborate Flash based prototypes using XML backends and specialized utilities and components to best simulate the remote control / couch experience.

Winner for Innovation in Interactive Television Experience, 2003
In 2003, the Moxi interface was awarded a Technology Emmy for innovation in Interactive Television Experience and dozens of Design Patents. The Moxi Television appliance is currently undergoing success as an HDTV appliance and recorder.

Flash and Video design and development for Digital Signage.
Bellco Crdit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the country, is based in the Denver area. With 14 branches, Bellco wanted to leverage Plasma Display (Digital Signage) by creating engaging media to promote credit union features and notify membership of upcoming events.
Using a combination of Flash and Video techniques, I created over 160 animations in various aspect ratios for display in the branches and also in the greater Denver area via the Denver Cultural Network.

Entertainment Tonight Desktop Alert Application
Agency had designed the Entertainment Tonight Flying Object: an application that remains in the users system tray, periodically receiving entertainment news as it happens. In addition, the ETFO had to be flexible enough to be re-skinned, play streaming video, animate into and back to the system tray, and allow users to send messages to friends directly from the application.
Much of the development of the instantET player centered around joining Flash player components with Streaming Video (via Windows Media Player) and a robust XML backend. Advanced Windows API routines paired with advanced Flash ActionScript is the heart of this project. The product was prototyped in Visual Basic for final design and functionality approval, and then rewritten in C++ for robust capabilities and smaller download size.
